One. Church Owl Beer
On this week’s Welcome to Connecticut podcast, host Ken Tuccio interviewed the founder of Connecticut’s (and apparently’s the country’s) first gluten-free brewery, Taylor Grothe. After being diagnosed with celiac’s disease, Taylor realized she couldn’t live without beer and got to work brewing her own. I’m looking forward to trying some of her creations and to support another woman on the Connecticut beer scene!
Two. Engagement Photos
The only thing I’ve really accomplished since becoming engaged it to set up our engagement photos. I can’t believe we are only a week away from having them taken! There is still so much to do, but one thing we’ve taken care of is the photographer. We are so excited to work with Jennifer Cardinal! Her work is exquisite and her Instagram feed is a New Englander’s dream. I can’t wait to share the final product!
Three. Christmas Lights
Keep your presents, give me the lights (you read that correctly PK). My favorite part of the holidays has always been, and will always be, the light shows. In Connecticut you have a lot of options. There’s the Hubbard Park Silver Light Show, they also do weekly events at the park so be sure to check that out. We also have The Railroad Museum of New England’s Holiday Express, Hartford’s Holiday Light Fantasia, and Mystic’s Lantern Light Tours just to name a few more. Oh, and have you ever traveled west on Route 6 into Thomaston? Because Thomaston lights up it’s buildings making it look like a giant castle.
Four. Holiday Decor
Lights aside, holiday decor in general makes me happy beyond measure. There are a lot of great blog articles out there on decorating and hosting. I’m loving this post from Sugar & Cloth on how to make DIY Paper Mache Macaroons and this post from By Gabriella on getting party ready in under an hour! Feel free to share your favorite posts and tips below!
Five. Twin Peaks
I bought this sweatshirt from Monique Aimee and can’t wait for it to arrive on Monday! Aside from it having a great design, I was informed that it is a quote related to the show, Twin Peaks. I’ve been told many times that it’s a show I would like, but I never got around to it. Well, I put the John Mayer on pause and started binging this show. Why did I wait so long?!?!
