One. Game of Thrones Finale and Moving On
I can’t believe tonight is the season finale of Game of Thrones. So many mixed feelings on this season. I’m still impatiently waiting for the sixth book, Georgie boy. If you’re impatient, like myself, try The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. It’s been picked up by Sony Entertainment and will soon be a TV series! Check out this article by Vanity Fair and then pick up The Eye of the World.
Two. Peach Season
It is officially peach season! Last year the weather ruined pick your own peach season, but this year they are beauties. Our favorite place to spend the afternoon snacking and picking is Lyman Orchards in Middlefield. You can wander through the orchards, explore the corn maze, or pick up cider and donuts at the Apple Barrel general store.
Three. Small State Great Beer
September 16th will be the second annual Small State Great Beer festival in Hartford. You can choose between the afternoon or evening sessions and sample some of the best beer our tiny little nutmeg has to offer. Buy your tickets here.
Four. The New York Renaissance Faire
Disney has some competition for the “Happiest Place on Earth” title. The New York Renaissance Faire is one of the most magical and fun ways to spend your weekend. I’ll be spending my 28th birthday pub crawling and dancing with the faeries.
Five. Foliage Report
The Connecticut DEEP has launched this year’s foliage report. Right now, the entire state is listed as very low, but trust me, go driving in the Litchfield Hills and see the greatest time of year starting to show!
