Stopping for more champagne at 10 am is probably a good indicator that you’re about to have an interesting day. Saturday I got together with friends to celebrate another Kait’s upcoming special day. While her actual bachelorette isn’t until August (stay tuned!) her mother and lovely maid-of-honor planned a family and friend ladies’ vineyard trip.
We started early getting picked up around 8:30 am and made our way to Baiting Hallow Vineyard in Calverton, NY. It was a beautiful day and we had reserved tables under the tents. Thank god, because my tan lines are unfortunate enough at the moment. The peel is real on my legs right now.
Women and wine will buy jewelry, so whoever came up with this display idea is a genius. I did slightly splurge and got a cute anchor ankle bracelet. I’m very picky so it’s very hard for me to pick jewelry. I was in love with an anchor bracelet, but one small little bedazzle gem ruined the entire thing for me.
If it’s your first time on the blog, I’m a beer girl, not a wine drinker, but their selection was delicious. I ended up sharing bottles of the Mirage Red with a friend all day. Yes, bottles. Moving on.
Maid-of-honor Maggie organized such a fun day! This girl is amazing: not only did she put together a family and friends vineyard day, but she’s organizing a killer bridal and bachelorette weekend too!
Wine-a-rita’s. Thankfully, I know my limits. If I drank these all day, I would die. Gone are the days of being able to drink sugary alcoholic beverages without serious repercussions. One makes a nice treat though.
Located right next door to the vineyard is Long Island Spirits, a vodka distillery. We decided to make the pilgrimage over to explore.
I’m a sucker for design and decorating. This place played right into my wheel house. All the clean lines, neutral colors, and distressed wood made me wish I was a vodka drinker.
I’ve convinced PK, who is not a vodka drinker either, to come back. I did try a sip of someone’s cucumber and mint cocktail and I enjoyed it way more than I was expecting. I think snacks out on the balcony while sipping fruit vodkas make for a perfect date afternoon. Wink wink to my editor (noted, but hold the fruit).
I want to note that Baiting Hollow is also a horse and pony rescue farm. When you see a little horse next to a wine’s name, the proceeds go towards the farm. You can also donate here.
On another note. If you have nothing to do with the farm, please don’t tell people you know better than the signs posted everywhere asking you not to feed the horses. One girl decided to disregard friends’ requests as well as the rules on the signs everywhere and try to feed to horses apples out of her bag. So I tattled. Proud tattler. Then, because I love animals so much, I went and bought another bottle of the horse rescue wine. All in a days work.
A beautiful day for a beautiful girl. Looking forward to more summer adventures with this crew. For the first time in my life I can say I have girlfriends. Weird, but I like it.
I hope everyone else had a great weekend! What did you do?
