Day Trip, New York, Weekend

Belmont Park

BelmontStars and Stripes-1

Now, let’s get a closeup of my favorite new shoes.

This weekend kicked off with a case of highway hypnosis.  I make the drive between Connecticut and New York so often that it’s second nature now.  So, when I ended up at the Danbury Mall in front of the new Primark on Friday, it was out of the ordinary, but I decided not to question it.

Two tops, two pairs of shoes, and a statement necklace later, I only spent about $50.  Ladies, you are welcome.   I’ll be heading back next week since I was on a time crunch this visit.

So, I’m not into gambling or horse racing, but I do love PK.  When he wanted to visit Belmont Park for their annual Stars and Stripes family day I tagged along.  We went last year and it was a nice time, but this year there were far fewer families and much more “regulars”.

The grounds of Belmont Park are beautiful.  The ivy crawling up the brick arches look like it belongs in the south.  No amount of ivy or well dressed North Shore socialites can make up for the disgusting mess left behind by those who call this their second home unfortunately.  We enjoyed a few beers and some food truck grub then headed out after a few hours.

While my horse racing isn’t my jam, the track is an experience and I can say I’ve had fun the two times I’ve been there.  Enjoy some pictures of the grounds below and stop back tomorrow to check out another adventure I went on this weekend to a bee apiary!
